Who is Jinnah Hosein? Jinnah Hosein is the recently named vice president of Software Engineering at The Boeing Company, the world’s largest aerospace company. Prior to that, Hosein have had several leadership roles, such as leading the software development for Falcon, Falcon Heavy, Dragon, Crew Dragon and other aviation vehicles at SpaceX, as well as at Tesla where he helped develop autopilot software. Additionally, he served as Google’s Director of Software Engineering for Cloud networks and was one of the original members of Google’s site reliability engineering team.

In this newly created role, Hosein will depend on Greg Hyslop, Boeing’s chief engineer and senior vice president of Engineering, Testing and Technology, and will focus on further strengthening Boeing’s focus on software engineering across the enterprise.

“Continued advances in software make excellence in software engineering an imperative for our business,” Hyslop said. “Jinnah will define and lead Boeing’s software engineering strategy, which includes providing safe and accurate capabilities, technologies, processes, and systems to meet the needs of all of our customers throughout the product lifecycle.”

Hosein will lead a new centralized organization of engineers who currently support the development and delivery of integrated software into Boeing products and services. The team will also integrate other functional equipment to ensure engineering excellence throughout the product lifecycle.

Hosein brings extensive experience as a leader in software engineering in several innovative high-tech companies. He joins Boeing after serving as vice president of software engineering for Aurora, an autonomous vehicle company, in Palo Alto, California. He led the company’s software organization for the development of these vehicles and developed the life cycle of Aurora’s high-integrity software to implement autonomous architecture in road vehicles.
