His projects to introduce colour in public spaces, between the destroyed facades of Communist-era residential buildings, the restoration of the Lana riverbed, the increase in recreational parks and
green areas in the city, as well as the reconstruction of Tirana’s road network based on entirely new standards that received international recognition, including a range of awards, including the World Mayor Award (2004) and the European Hero Award by Time Magazine.
