Who is Dr. Jennifer Peña? Dr. Jennifer Peña, the curent Physician of the Vice President of the United States, is a Medical Director at Global Executive Medicine as well as at Primary Care Telemedicine practice. She is also a Concierge/Executive Medicine physician for INOVA VIP 360 and Medical Consultant for Private Medical. From 2014-2018 she served at the White House Medical Unit (WHMU). She had been a physician for Obama, Biden, and Pence.

Dr. Peña was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University in 2004 with degrees in molecular, cell and developmental biology, Spanish language and literature, and was appointed to the U.S. Army in 2008 after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed an internship in internal medicine at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, and an internship in internal medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. She is a specialist in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Military Service

Dr. Peña’s experience in the Army includes missions as an internist and medical director at the Executive Medicine Clinic of Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH), head of the FBCH’s inpatient hospital service, deployed in Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom, which provides medical care for detainees in the Parwan detention center, and she has an appointment as assistant professor of medicine at the University of Uniformed Services.

White House Medical Unit

From 2014 to 2018, she completed a business trip in the White House Medical Unit (WHMU). Her duties included the responsible official of the WHMU clinic in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the chief physician, the medical director at Camp David, and most recently the doctor of the Vice President of the United States. He retired from service in the army in January 2019.
