Billy went pro in 2009. From 2006 to 2009, he played golf for the University of Florida Gators men’s team on an athletic scholarship in NCAA tournaments.

Horschel was the individual medalist at the 2006 U.S. Amateur at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.

After turning professional in 2009, he qualified for the 2010 PGA Tour through qualifying school.

In February 2011, he made the cut at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, his first PGA Tour appearance in eleven years, finishing T13.

Horschel finished third at the True South Classic in 2012, but he was only 147th on the money list.

Before his breakthrough win at the 2013 Zurich Classic of New Orleans in his 61st PGA Tour start, he had three consecutive top-10 finishes.

He finished T4 in his first major as a professional at the 2013 U.S. Open, moving up to 34th in the world rankings.

Horschel won his second BMW Championship in 2014.

In May 2017, he defeated Jason Day in a playoff to win the AT & T Byron Nelson.

Horschel and partner Scott Piercy won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April 2018.
