Prior to becoming a defense attorney, Yodit served as a prosecutor for several years in the Dallas District Attorney’s Office. Working as a prosecutor in adult and juvenile systems has provided Yodit with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the defence of trials. State representation in trials and hearings has helped her to better understand the intricacies of litigation. Prior to joining the Dallas DA office, Yodit was a clerk for the 19th Judicial District Court of the Honourable Trudy M. White. During this time, Yodit has prepared decisions, made recommendations and researched a wide range of complex legal issues. Working for a criminal judge not only exposed Yodit to the inner workings of the justice system, but also developed his ability to critically analyze legal issues.
Originally from Eritrea, a country in the Horn of Africa, Yodit immigrated to the United States as a child. Raised in Dallas, Texas, Yodit went on to obtain her B.A. in English, along with a minor in communications from Texas A-M University. Yodit received her Juris Doctor from the Southern University Law Center, where she was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Race, Gender and Poverty. During his law studies, Yodit was committed to the Honourable Irma Ramirez of the United States District Court for the District of North Texas, as well as the Honourable Douglas D. Dodd of the Middle District of Louisiana.
