Who is Dr. Barbara Ferrer? Dr. Barbara Ferrer is an American philanthropic strategist, director of public health, education leader, researcher and community advocate. The health director is currently director of the Los Angeles County Department of Health. Previously, she was Chief Strategy Officer of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and was also the executive director of the Boston Public Health Commission.

Currently, Dr. Ferrer is the director of the Los Angeles County Department of Health, which protects health, prevents disease and promotes justice and well-being among l.A. County’s more than 10 million residents. She oversees a budget of more than $1.3 billion, leads a multidisciplinary staff of more than 4,500 staffers and works with her L.A. County Health Agency colleagues to integrate the departments of health and mental health services.

Most recently, Dr. Ferrer worked because the Chief Strategy Officer of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, in which she was responsible for developing the strategic course for essential application-related work and delivering leadership to the foundation’s main areas of application: education and learning; Economic family security; Food, health and well-being; Racial equality; Community engagement; and leadership development. Previously, Dr. Ferrer became the executive director of the Boston Public Health Commission. Under her leadership, the city of Boston saw improvements in full-size fitness, such as a decrease in adolescent obesity costs, smoking and infant mortality.

Dr. Ferrer was also director of health promotion and prevention of chronic diseases and director of the Maternal and Child Health Department at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. As a principal at a district high college in Boston, she led efforts to significantly improve excessive graduation rates and ensure that every graduating senior turned into popular to college.
